Hi. I'm 13 going go be 14 soon. My penis is curved or bent as you would say. I know that it's not that bent, but I'm still concerned. Can it be treated without seing a doctor or anything?
Your penis becomes erect by blood filling three spongy regions in your penis. Two are on the top of your penis and one is at the bottom. The pressure of the blood inside the penis is what makes it feel stiff when it is erect. The shape of the regions roughly affects the shape and direction of the erect penis.
It is only "roughly" because a number of factors can cause the penis to bend slightly. Have you ever blown up a long, thin balloon? If you have you will notice that all of them do not blow up straight. There is almost always a slight bend due to slight differences in the rubber of the balloon. For the same reason, minor variations in the chambers can and usually does make every man's penis bend slightly in one direction or another. Having three chambers causes many of the variations to cancel each other out, but not all variations are canceled.
As long as the bend is not severe, where severe is usually counted as over 20 degrees, then there is nothing to worry about. It will work just fine when it comes time to have sex with your wife. Actually, women's vagina's are not perfectly straight either, so it doesn't really matter.
When a man has a severe bend, such as making a L or or even a U shape when erect, it generally indicates that there is a blockage in one of the chambers. Most blockages heal themselves, but if a severe bend remains for more the six months, you would need to see a doctor. Such severe bends would make having sex with your wife very difficult or even painful.
