Question

I am 15 and am uncircumcised and I can't pull my foreskin back to where it shows the glans. I can only see the tip. I have hit puberty already but is this a problem and should I see a doctor to get circumcised or no?

Answer

There are two reasons the foreskin can't go back. One is that the foreskin is stuck to the glans. The second is that the opening at the end of the foreskin is so tight that the glans can't slide through.

Before trying the circumcision route, try the method described in "I'm uncircumcised. The skin on my penis doesn't pull back all the way to release the tip of the penis. I think it should, but I don't know if I should see a doctor." It may take several months before you get full separation, but you should see some progress in a few weeks. In this same exercise, while you have the foreskin pulled away from your body, put your fingers inside the foreskin and gently stretch the opening larger.

If that doesn't work, the next step is to see a  doctor who will first give you a cream to try. You pull your foreskin back as far as you can and then apply the cream around the edge. The chemicals in the cream will encourage separation and it can help the foreskin grow a bit so the opening is larger.

Only if those two don't work will surgery be discussed. It is possible to separate the foreskin from the glans without having to do a circumcision. The advantage is that you will heal faster.
