Question:

How do I know when I reached peak growth? After peak growth, how many inches do I have left to grow?

Answer:

In general, you don’t know what your peak growth rate is until after your growth has slowed back down. Your fastest growth occurs during stage 3. When your growth rate has slowed down to 2 inches per year or less (measured over a six month or one year time period), then you have reached stage 4 and you have passed your peak growth rate.

Boys in stage 4 tend to grow an additional 1 to 3 inches. But if you are trying to measure from your peak growth, that is more difficult because 1) it is hard to tell exactly when you’ve reached your peak growth and 2) slowing down from a high peak growth rate causes you to grow more than slowing down from a low peak growth rate — thus, the amount you grow will depend on how fast you were growing.
