I have small red spots on my glans that are painful and itchy

Question:

I want to thank you for the time dedicated to my concern.

I have these small red spots on the head of my penis — on the glans. They are painful and itchy. My problem began a year back when I had sex with my girlfriend — vaginal sex. Since I started to see it, I went to the hospital many times. They gave me medicine. It used to take it out but it comes back again. I am very confused about this. Please I need help to take this from me, please!

Thanks.

Answer:

Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, and his reproach will not be wiped away” (Proverbs 6:32-33).

When you went to the hospital, what was the diagnosis, and what medication did they give you? That would give me a better understanding of what you have. The problem with figuring out what you have is that I can’t see what you see and each disease has special characteristics that you may not think to mention but are important for identification. That is why it is important to see a doctor who is trained in identifying and treating problems.

Molluscum Contagiosum

Based on what you described, one possibility is molluscum contagiosum. These are bumps about 3 to 5 mm in diameter and have a dimple in the center. It is caused by a virus. They start out pale but get red and itchy to the point of painful. They are very contagious and can appear anywhere on the body. The bumps can last anywhere from 6 months to a year, but in some cases, it can last as long as 4 years. The body is able to fight this disease on its own, so it isn’t usually treated directly, instead, the symptoms are treated and attempts are made to keep from spreading it. You can’t get immune to molluscum contagiosum. You can catch it repeatedly.

Herpes Simplex

Another possibility is herpes. The sores usually appear within the first two weeks after infection. Most people don’t notice them, but for some the outbreaks are painful. The sores last for about two weeks and then disappear, only to appear again later. There is no cure for herpes, but medication is available to keep the outbreaks under control. Herpes tends to look like ulcers (pits) in the skin.

Scabies

Another possibility is scabies. This is caused by a tiny insect called a mite that burrows into the skin. The itchy rash is an allergic reaction to the mites.

Finally, it could be that you picked up a yeast infection, which is a type of fungus. However, yeast infections don’t tend to be painful. It could keep reappearing if you are not using the medication for the full time required.

As you can see, the symptoms you list match a number of different problems. The ones I listed are the more common ones. I would suggest seeing a urologist or a dermatologist about your problem.

More, I hope you learn that God is right. Sex belongs only in marriage.
