I haven’t had an ejaculation in a long time. Is something wrong with me?

Question:

Hi,

I am a 21-year-old student who has been masturbating since my early life. I have now quit masturbating and it’s been 70 days now. I am waiting for a nocturnal emission, but I didn’t have any yet. Is there a problem with me? In this 70-day time period, I watched porn two or three times and there was a release of semen but only a few drops and I did not masturbate. In my early life, I have been masturbating twice a day and after every one or two days, so I have not experienced any nocturnal emission in my life (not any that I remember).

Secondly, I wanted to ask: if I do not masturbate and I don’t experience nocturnal emission, how my body will release the semen? It’s all confusing on the Internet. Some people say semen gets reabsorbed and I don’t know what to believe.

Answer:

Like many people, you seem to be focused on physical activity when it is the spiritual problems that need to be addressed. Watching pornography is sinful. “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God” (I Thessalonians 4:3-5). I suspect that when you were looking at porn, you had pre-ejaculate come out. Semen comes with orgasm and ejaculation.

How often a guy needs to ejaculate is very individualistic. So long as you are not feeling like you are going crazy or doing crazy sexual things, then you are fine. Some guys are able to release small amounts of semen at night that get flushed away the next time you urinate. This keeps the seminal vesicles from getting full quickly. If it gets too full, you will find your sex drive sky rocketing and your thinking constantly focusing on sexual ideas. Usually a wet dream, if it is going to happen, is not far off. There is also a possibility that you are having wet dreams, but overlooking the signs — a stiff spot on your pajamas or bedsheets where the semen dried.

It is also possible that a medication you are taking is interfering with your libido.

The body can reabsorb sperm when a man gets a vasectomy, but semen is not reabsorbed.
