I haven’t masturbated in a month and now it hurts when I get an erection

Question:

Thanks for your post. God bless you all.

Masturbation has separated me from God for many years of stopping and starting masturbation. I did it almost every day. But this will make it a month since I last did it, and I don’t wish to go back to it. But I also heard that excess storage causes prostrate cancer in the long run. How true is this?

Also, I severely feel pain in my testicles after unconscious erections, and it hurts a lot when I’m walking.

Please reply. God bless.

Answer:

Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2).

It is sin which becomes a barrier between us and God. Thus, a sin like looking at pornography will separate you from God because passionate things that arouse lust is wrong. “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God” (I Thessalonians 4:3-5). Yet, the Bible doesn’t call the act of masturbation a sin. See: Is masturbation sinful or not?

Whether you choose to masturbate or not is up to you. It isn’t required. But what is necessary is that your body has ejaculations once in a while. What sometimes happens is that a boy decides all ejaculations are wrong and even manages to stop having wet dreams, or he is unable to have wet dreams and therefore never ejaculates. Usually, a guy can hold out for a while, but eventually, limits are going to be reached and the body will force an ejaculation to occur one way or another. I would rather that you don’t lose control over yourself.

There is a study that shows that the more often guys ejaculate, the less likely they are to develop prostate cancer, but the cause and effect have not been established. It is not known if the ejaculations reduce the risk of prostate cancer or if men who don’t typically get prostate cancer also tend to produce a lot of semen.

The pain is likely caused by being in a near-constant state of arousal because your body wants to get rid of the excess semen that has been stored up. Being aroused causes the blood to move more slowly from the penis and the tissues and muscles begin to cramp from being tight too long.

One way to handle this if you don’t wish to masturbate is to sleep in the nude for a few nights in hopes of triggering a wet dream. Once you ejaculate, the pressure will go down and the pain will disappear.
