Is belly hair a sign that you are done growing?

Question:

Hi,

Does belly hair mean Tanner 5? I’ve already mentioned how The calculator says I’m around stage 4 but I’ve seen online that hair around the belly suggests growth is over. In the past few months, I’ve noticed hair all around my belly growing – they are dark, not black but darkish, straight hairs growing from my belly, around my belly button. It’s difficult to see on camera or in a mirror, but I can see it. I’ve tried to grow it out and I can’t get it past the small hair stage, each strand only a millimeter or so. Is belly hair a good sign of growth is almost done? My family is quite hairy – my dad has hair all over him.

I’m also slightly concerned as I have only gone from 181.6cm – 182.3cm in the past 3 months or so, but I haven’t measured myself recently.

Answer:

Belly hair is typically one of the signs that you are in Stage 4 of development. This is the stage when your rate of growth slows down. When it stops, you will be in Stage 5. Stage 4 typically lasts about 2 years. Your current growth rate is roughly 3 cm a year which is consistent with you being in stage 4.
