Is it OK to shave off a peach-fuzz mustache?

Last updated on October 11, 2020

Question:

Recently I started to grow a peach-fuzz mustache. I was thinking of shaving it because some of it is darker and some of it is lighter. It’s pretty thin right now because I am just in Tanner stage 3.6; yet, it’s noticeable. What would you do? I am 13 by the way.

Answer:

When I was your age, I shaved it. You won’t have to do it often at first. Probably only once a week or so. Later you will have to do it more frequently.

Question:

When will my peach fuzz mustache develop into more hair like in my chin and down my sideburns?

Answer:

It already has started. That is why you have noticed some dark hairs. Each hair develops on its own and at its own time. When enough of them mature, then we see them as group, such as a mustache. However, it takes a while for enough to mature in a region. Just be patient, it will come eventually.

Typically, after a mustache comes chin hairs. During stage 4 you will develop sideburns and in stage 5 you will be able to grow a full beard.
