My urethra opening is red, tender, and I have a yellow discharge

Last updated on October 6, 2020

Question:

I will explain the symptoms: The part where my urethra opens is quite red and tender, which started to worry me. At first, I didn’t think much about it, then yesterday and last week when I woke up I saw I had a discharge which was a yellow color. However, my normal semen is fine, being the usual white. No matter how much I clean (which is frequently, once or twice a day) I still have a weird sort of smell coming from my penis sometimes, but this isn’t as frequent as the other symptoms. I believe it is an STD as I had unprotected sex before. But it cannot be a yeast infection if I clean it a lot, surely?

Answer:

Regardless of how well you keep yourself clean, the problem is that fungus spores, bacteria, or viruses can get to the inside of the urinary tube during sex. If you think about it, each time you thrust in, the slit at the end of your penis is pulled open. Once in, these diseases can take up lodging.

I can’t tell you exactly which STD you have because in males several of them have similar symptoms. It could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, nongonococcal urethritis, a yeast infection, or a few others. Call your doctor or a health clinic today and get yourself tested and treated. Some of these have severe consequences if not treated. Worse, they can appear to disappear on their own, and continue to cause damage to your body.

This is one reason you should not be having sex outside of marriage. “Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, And his reproach will not be wiped away” (Proverbs 6:32-33).
