Why hasn’t my voice changed?

Question:

I am a fourteen year old male.  I have some pubic hair growth around my groin and hair is beginning to appear under my armpits. My penis is approximately 5.3 inches when erect and I can ejaculate. I have been able to do so for six months.  However, my voice has not changed at all. In fact, it is high pitched and nasal.  When will it change?  Will I always sound like a child?

Answer:

And why do you think you will be different from all the other males on the planet? Yes, your voice will change. I have no idea whether you’ll end up being a tenor, baritone, or a bass, but your voice will eventually drop. From your description of yourself, it sounds like you have reached the latter part of Tanner’s stage three or early stage four in development. You can use the Tanner Stage Calculator for Boys to double-check my guess. At the age of fourteen, you are a little bit ahead of the average boy in development. Sometime in the next few months, your voice will start to break as the voice box gets larger and your vocal cords get longer. When this settles down, your voice will be lower in pitch. You can look at a brief description of Stage Three and Stage Four for more details about what is coming up in your development.
