Why was it wrong for a friend to give me a handjob?

Last updated on August 29, 2020

Question:

My friend gave me a handjob when I was 11. What’s worse is that both of us are boys. We didn’t know that we were doing something wrong. Can you please help me and give me some advice to repent and explain to me why is it a sin? Please? Thanks. May God bless you.

Answer:

May I ask you a few questions? You asked to know why it is a sin, but you are embarrassed about what happened, and rightly so. You think it is worse because another boy played with your penis. So why is it that you ask why is it wrong? Why is it that you claim you didn’t know you were doing something wrong, yet you keep it hidden from others?

My point is that even at eleven, you knew it was wrong even if you couldn’t explain why. Whether giving someone a hand job or receiving one is wrong because it is treating another human being, who is not your wife, in a sexual manner. All acts of sex belong only between married couples. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9-10). What you and your friend did fall in the category of effeminate (receiving homosexual acts) and homosexual (giving homosexual acts).

What do you do? It is like any other sin: you see that you did something wrong, you admit it, and you change how you behave in the future. Sins don’t mark a person for life unless the person hangs on to them. Even after listing all the sins the Corinthians had done, Paul continued and said, “Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (I Corinthians 6:11). God is able to cleanse you from all sins.

Response:

Oh, thanks. May God bless you.
