Will masturbation increase the size of my penis?

Last updated on August 4, 2020

Question:

Hi!

I’m 15 and I still have a baby dick. I am also Asian. I weigh 160 lbs. I don’t know if that’s normal or not. I have started puberty a long time ago. I have armpit hair and pubic hair and a happy trail. I’m 5′ 9″. I masturbate occasionally. I was wondering if masturbation will increase my penis size. I’ve seen my cousin’s penis and his penis is twice as big as mine. Since we are blood relatives I was wondering why my penis is smaller than his? Shouldn’t we be just about the same? His stands at four and a half inches in length and about 2 inches in girth, while mine only at 2.5 inches in length and 1 inch in girth. I was thinking of seeing a doctor, but I saw this site so I was just wondering if you could answer my question.

Answer:

From your description of yourself, I would guess you have reached stage 4 in Dr. Tanner’s Stages of Development. To estimate what stage of development you are in, see the Tanner Stage Calculator for Boys. That your penis is smaller than average can happen, it all depends on the genes you inherited from your parents. Those of Asian descent tend to have a shorter penis. By racial backgrounds, the averages for an erect penis are:

  • African: 6.9 inches (a second survey showed 6.1 inches)
  • European: 6.2 inches (a second survey showed 6.5 inches)
  • Hispanic: 6.1 inches (a second survey showed 5.9 inches)
  • Native American: 5.7 inches
  • Asian: 5.3 inches (a second survey showed 5.5 inches)

But even within these groups there is a wide range of sizes. In addition, most surveys are based on self-measurement (not verified), so it is difficult to draw conclusions. The Kinsey report, done back in the 1950’s, and whose methods are now considered questionable, did include lengths of penises and the smallest measured was 1 inch. Among the Asian population there is a known mutated gene, called by the wonderful name SRD5A2, which is known to create very small penises, called micropenises. A micropenis is defined to be less than 3/4 of an inch (or 1.9 centimeters).

Even though you are blood relatives, you don’t look exactly the same. You are probably not the same height; in fact, I doubt you are the same height as your mother and father though you are more closely related to them than to your cousin. All of us descend from Adam, but we all look different. He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth” (Acts 17:26). You received a different set of genes from your parents than your cousin did from his parents. It will create a number of differences, including the size of your penis.

If you are in stage 4, then the majority of your penis’ length has been reached, though it may continue to become bigger around. Masturbation cannot make your penis larger, other than the temporary effect of being erect. While there are countless products promising to give you a larger penis, none of them work beyond emptying your wallet of the little cash that you have.

A doctor can check to see if you have some deficiency in a needed hormone, but usually such deficiencies also cause other problems in development beyond a smaller than average penis. If there is a hormone problem, the normal time to make corrections is during childhood — before you enter adolescence. From adolescence to adulthood the hormones have decreasing effectiveness. Once you reach adulthood, hormones won’t make any difference.

Though it may sound odd, when you get married, your wife will not care that your penis is smaller than average. In fact, she is likely to find sex more enjoyable with you than a woman married to a man with a large penis. The enjoyment of sex comes from how you use what God has given you, not the size of your equipment.
