Question:
Hello, sir,
You often get this, but I’d like to quell some uncertainty. I believe I hit puberty when I was 12 years, as that is when I noticed pubic hair. At this point, I was 158 cm. The next year, when I was 13, I grew to about 166 cm. Now, I am 14 and approximately 173 cm.
I am on a track team, and my coach informed me that my PHV will likely start in about a month.
I noticed the most changes this year, 2024. My voice started cracking profusely in March, deepened once in June, stopped cracking for a month, and has been cracking intensely again since August. I also developed armpit hair for the first time in May (the fine hairs), and I have seen some noticeable leg hair in June.
I would like to know how much growth I may expect. After answering the calculator’s questions, I got a Tanner Stage of 3.7. My father is 185 cm, and my mother is 166 cm.
Could you please inform me how much more growth I may expect vertically?
Answer:
You are in your growth spurt, and your coach may be correct in saying that you are near your peak growth rate (PHV). You can get estimates for your final adult height by using the various calculators on the Predicting Your Adult Height page. Most require knowing your current weight, which you didn’t mention. The Mid-Parent estimate says you will be between 177 and 198 cm, with 182 cm being the most likely final height. Use the other calculators to get a rough idea of your possible final height.
