Question:
I have a problem. I’m not really sure if I should take this girl seriously. We were playing this game, 21 Questions. I was up first, so I asked her how much does she like me. Her answer was “a lot but far from loving.” I didn’t know whether that was a compliment or an insult. So I said, “Oh, OK.” Then it was her turn to ask a question, and she asked, “Why do you like me?” I responded, “You’re beautiful, you’re a girl I’ve liked for forever, and you’re just you. What’s there not to like about you?” I immediately asked her the same question and her answer was, “I don’t know. Umm, you’re nice and no guys went through that much trouble to tell me how they feel.” There are some other things besides this, but I don’t know.
Answer:
“I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases” (Song of Solomon 2:7).
It appears that you are trying to push this relationship along instead of letting it develop at its own pace. You like her a lot and she also likes you, though she isn’t to the point she wants to commit herself yet. That is perfectly normal. So let things develop. Don’t feel like you have to push matters to make progress.
