Question:
When will I get my growth spurt and when will my voice change? I started puberty around the beginning of 2020. I started growing pubic hair toward the end of 2020. I have armpit hair and started growing armpit hair around the time I hit puberty. I have grown 3 inches in the past year but it wasn’t rapid. My height did increase compared to the year before but the growth wasn’t rapid. I have leg and arm hair and hair on my thighs and on one of my toes. My hands and feet look a little out of shape for my body. The Tanner Stage Calculator puts me at stage 3.0. When will I get my growth spurt and when will my voice change?
Answer:
Any growth greater than 2 inches per year is considered to be a growth spurt. You grew three inches in the last year, so you have begun your growth spurt. I would guess the Calculator’s answers are a little low for you and that it should say 3.5, but then I don’t know how you answered and I can’t see you to compare your answers to what I might see.
A boy’s voice typically changes in the middle of stage 4, but it can start changing in stage 3. Therefore, you can expect it to change somewhere in the next 6 months to 2 years.
Question:
Is it normal that my arms and legs aren’t long?
Answer:
The difficulty I have in answering is that “long” is a relative term. Long in comparison to what? You have to remember that I can’t see you. I only have your description of yourself to understand what you see. If you send measurements, I might be able to answer your question.
