Question:
According to the Tanner stage calculator, I am a 14-year-old male in Tanner stage 3.9. I had a growth spurt from ages 11 to 12, going from 4’11 “to 5’5”; after the growth spurt, I didn’t grow at the age of 13 at all, but I grew one inch at 14. I currently have an increased appetite, weight gain, and an increase in shoe size.
Will I have another growth spurt? I am 5’6 with a shoe size of 11.5, hands at 8 inches, and a wingspan of 5’9. I have had pubic hair since the age of 9 and a tiny mustache at 11.
Answer:
I suspect the weight gain and increased appetite are due to you putting on muscles, but that is just a guess without seeing you. You are likely to have a small growth spurt, unlike your earlier one. It would be unusual to experience two growth spurts. However, a year-long pause is also unusual. Have you been taking medication that might hinder growth?
