Question:

I recently had unprotected sex. l fear the possibility of pregnancy because after ejaculating outside of her, l immediately cleaned my penis and put it back into her vagina. Could she get pregnant?

Answer:

Any time you have sex there is always a possibility of pregnancy, even if you took precautions to avoid pregnancy. We are talking about the odds of pregnancy. A couple having sex regularly over the course of a year will have an 85% chance of conceiving a child before the year ends if they do nothing to prevent it. All protection does is lower the odds. It never goes completely to zero.

When you are sexually aroused, your penis drips a clear fluid that is called pre-ejaculate fluid. That fluid can contain sperm. Not a whole lot, but pregnancy can occur if one sperm is present when she releases an egg. Wiping your penis after you ejaculated, physically remove most of your semen, but it won’t remove all of it. You need to remember that sperm cells are microscopic in size. There are millions of sperm cells in the semen you ejaculate. You just need a few clinging to your penis and you end up putting them into her vagina. But beyond all of this, after you ejaculate you continue to produce pre-ejaculate fluid and that pushes the leftover semen in your penis out. Thus, there is a strong possibility that a good number of sperm was introduced after you put your penis back into her.

There is a second part to whether pregnancy occurs and that is if the sex took place close to when she released an egg. A girl releases an egg 14 days before her next period. When a girl has her next period is not always predictable, so the day the egg is released is not easily predicted either. The sperm has to meet the egg on the day that the egg is released, but a guy’s sperm can survive up to 6 days in the womb.

Thus, the chance that you conceived a child is fairly high.

But what is absolutely certain is that you’ve sinned. “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). You have no business putting your penis in a girl to whom you are not married. Such a sin, uncorrected, will keep you out of heaven.
