Question:
Hello,
I’m currently 18 yrs old. I believe I haven’t hit puberty. I have very little pubic hair, no axillary hair, no facial hair, not even upper lip hair. I have a boyish chubby face. My voice has not changed. I weigh 110 pounds and I am 170cm (5’7″). I’ve never hit a “growth spurt.” I did a bone age test a few weeks ago and it recorded me at 14 yrs. My dad hit puberty at 14. What’s wrong with me? Am I a late bloomer?
Answer:
Since you had a bone age test, that means you have seen a doctor. What did he say about your growth?
At 5’7″ you have past puberty and have grown. Whether you noticed it or not doesn’t change the fact that it did occur. A bone age of 14 would place you in late stage 3 or early stage 4. See: What is the difference between a bone age and a Tanner Stage? Facial hair usually doesn’t develop until stage 4, along with the change in facial shape and a change in voice.
Therefore, you are a late bloomer. Why you don’t have much pubic hair or arm and leg hair, I cannot say from what you’ve told me. Some lineages don’t have a lot of body hair.
