Question:
Hi,
I’m a 14-year-old boy. Yesterday I masturbated five times, and today I tried to masturbate another five times, but on my fifth time today I noticed in the very clear liquid that came out, which I think is called pre-ejaculate, a tiny dot of blood in the liquid, but then more liquid came out, but that liquid didn’t have any blood. And as I said before, it was a tiny dot of blood, very small, not much blood, that came out only on the first amount of pre-ejaculate that came out, then the rest of the liquid that continued dripping out didn’t have any blood. When I urinate no blood comes either. Could this tiny dot of blood that came out in that pre-ejaculate be something dangerous? Could this be testicular cancer? Could this be the beginning of a very serious disease? What should I do? Also on the fourth time that I masturbated today part of my foreskin in my penis got very irritated, but by the fifth time I masturbated today it wasn’t that irritated anymore, but it was still irritated, especially when you touched that part of the foreskin.
Answer
During your teenage years, it is very easy to develop compulsive behaviors — that is doing something repeatedly even though there is no real need. Masturbating gives you feelings of sexual pleasure that becomes very strong at orgasm. Some boys fall into the trap of pursuing that feeling of pleasure, even to the point of ignoring warning signs just to get that feeling again. That is what is happening to you.
Your foreskin is getting irritated from too much handling, but you don’t let yourself heal, instead, you keep pressing yourself to ejaculate again. The small amount of blood is nothing to worry about, but it does indicate that your internal organs are getting irritated as well.
The answer is extremely easy, stop masturbating for a few days. Give your body a chance to recover. It will do you good to start learning to control your impulses. “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified” (I Corinthians 9:27). Just as when you were a child you used to demand to be feed whenever you felt like it, but as you grew older you learned to wait, here too you need to learn to wait.
In the Old Testament, there was a rule concerning ejaculations: “If any man has an emission of semen, then he shall wash all his body in water, and be unclean until evening” (Leviticus 15:16). An unclean person had to leave camp or town while unclean. He could have no contact with another person until he went through the ceremony to become clean again. Being unclean wasn’t the same as having sinned, but it taught the Israelites the nature of sin. God selected various things to illustrate the nature of sin and one that He selected was something that could not be avoided. For women, He selected their monthly blood flow. For men He selected ejaculation. Thus everyone in Israel would spend time being unclean whether they wanted to or not.
While we are not under the rules of uncleanness today, it has been noted repeatedly that those rules just happened to be beneficial. Following those rules made a person’s life healthier because certain problems were avoided or isolated. I don’t recommend living by the rules of uncleanness today, but I want you to think about the consequences of the rule regarding ejaculations. Since ejaculating semen would make you unclean for an entire day, what do you think that would cause boys to do? Oh, it might be fun to go off by yourself for a day or two, but it would soon become boring and it would make little things, such as getting food, going out with friends, or getting work done very difficult. The natural result would be that boys would soon learn to delay ejaculating as much as possible.
There is no passage that states masturbating is wrong, in and of itself, but it would do you good in this case to follow the same idea of learning to limit yourself by putting gaps between times that you ejaculate. The side-effect is that when you do ejaculate, it will be more pleasurable because your body had a chance to rest and recover.
