Question:
Hi,
Well, this is kind of embarrassing, but I think I may be in love with my guidance counselor. She helped me get over something and she’s on maternity leave and won’t be back until the start of next school year. I just miss her so much. I think I am lovesick. I don’t know how to get her off my mind. Any advice?
Thanks.
Answer:
It is perfectly fine to love people. Love is not limited to romantic interests. You love your parents, brothers, and sisters. You love your friends. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
It is easy to feel strongly about people who have done much for you and who you appreciate. Don’t turn this into a romantic type of love — that isn’t appropriate. But it is appropriate to let her know she has made a difference in your life, that you miss talking to her, and that you look forward to seeing her again the next school year.
