Question:
I’m 15 years old, and I’m going through the fifth stage of puberty. I’m currently 5 feet 11.25 inches tall. Am I still growing? I still have acne on my face, and I also have peach fuzz on my face. I have a deep voice. When will I grow a beard? When will I stop growing?
Answer:
If you are in stage 5, then by definition you have stopped growing in height. Stage 2 is when the first external signs of puberty are seen, stage 3 is when the rapid growth phase occurs, stage 4 is when growth slows back down, and stage 5 is when growth stops. If you are still growing, then you are stage 4.
Just because the vertical growth stops, you still mature after reaching stage 5. Most men don’t start growing a full beard until after they have been in stage 5 for several years. Also, chest hair and body hair doesn’t fully develop until after stage 5. There are also internal changes as well, such as mental development that doesn’t complete until years after reaching stage 5.
