I’m having trouble removing smegma under my foreskin

Question:

I recently came across your website. I am a 21-year-old virgin with an uncircumcised penis. The reason I came here is that, even when not erect, the foreskin on my penis would not retract. After seeing a few of the questions and some of the tips you have recommended, I have been able to comfortably retract my foreskin all the way back when not erect. There is a little discomfort while retracting, but once it is completely retracted I feel no pain and even though the exposed part is a little sensitive it is not too bad.

My current question is that once I go fully erect I am unable to pull my foreskin back. The most I can do without having too much pain is about 60/70% of the foreskin retracted. From my perspective, the part where it can’t be retracted is the foreskin closer to my stomach, the foreskin below the penis from the perspective of my eyes is fully retractable as far as I can tell.

I have found that I have a lot of smegma residue. I have tried cleaning it with hot water but have yet still managed to see a change, in both the amount of white stuff in the head of my penis below the foreskin and the difficulty retracting the foreskin.

Also when my foreskin is retracted the head of my penis is really red and although it does not hurt to touch it, the foreskin closest to the head of the penis is really red and sensitive too.

Answer:

Hopefully, I understood all the details correctly. It sounds like you have two or three issues at the same time. The difficulty retracting your foreskin when you are erect would be due to having phimosis (a tight foreskin). There are stretches that you can do to encourage the end of the foreskin to relax enough to roll back. For details see: I can pull my foreskin back, but it is really tight. The reason you are getting it partway down is that the glans is smaller toward the end, but when you are erect, it flares out as you come closer to the body.

Regarding the smegma, see: I finally got my foreskin to retract, but the smegma build-up is thick. In particular, you need to use baby oil or lotion to soften the smegma and if that doesn’t work to try a saline solution.

The redness is probably due to the recent release of your foreskin and your difficulty in getting the smegma off. If it continues to be a problem, you should talk with your doctor as it may be due to an infection.

Response:

Thanks a lot for your input. I really appreciate all your help and everything you do on your website. I’m glad that all the issues are solvable and that I don’t have to look for medical attention right away.

I must thank you again for answering so quickly. May God bless you, sir.
