Question:
I emailed you when I was 17 years old. At that time I was 5’4-5’5″, now I’m 24 years old and I’m about 5’7.5 inches tall (171cm). I’m always insecure about my height. Am I short at this height?. My parents are 5’4″ and 5’0″. They are short. I’m sad and I don’t want to be insecure anymore. What can I do? Please help me.
Answer:
The global average height for an adult male is 5’9″, so you are a bit shorter than the average, though significantly taller than your parents. When you were conceived, you received a combination of genes from both of your parents. That combination would put your minimum potential height at 5’2″ and your maximum at 6’0″. You received a combination that put you just above the average for boys in your family.
Being insecure or sad about who you are doesn’t improve your life. You can’t change your skin color, your gender, or your height. These are all a part of who you are. The real question is: What are you doing with the things you have? Seek to enjoy life and be content.
