Question:
Is there a way to tell if a girl is on her period?
Answer:
The easiest way is to ask, but it is considered a personal question, so unless you are close, she is likely to take offense at the question. So why is it that you want to know?
Question:
Just curious. I heard that girls some times have “symptoms” of periods like mood swings and I was just wounding if I can figure out when that happens.
Answer:
Yes, girls’ moods do swing on a cycle that typically runs about 28 days. That cycle can vary from as short as 14 days to as long as 36 days and there are times when periods are missed completely.
What is talked about most is PMS (premenstrual syndrome). It refers to the ten days before a woman’s period begins. About 5% of all women have strong symptoms before their periods, which can include:
- water retention or bloating
- irritability
- feelings of unhappiness
- tension
- abdominal cramps
The general rule for guys is when a girl suddenly gets moody and you feel like your walking on eggshells around her, then about a week later everything goes back to normal, then it probably is just PMS.
