Question:

Hello,

I am 11 but have been experiencing puberty since I was 8. No one I know understands my problem. What should I do?

Answer:

Eight would be early for a boy. It is called precocious puberty, which just says puberty came early, but by itself doesn’t say why. When someone starts extra early, a doctor should run a series of tests to make sure it isn’t caused by some disease or other problems. (See: Precocious Puberty by Mayo Clinic.) If something is found, then the underlying cause needs to be treated. If nothing is found and you are developing normally, then there isn’t much that can be done. There are drugs available to slow down development if you are maturing too quickly.
