Why do people call someone homosexual without evidence?

Last updated on October 7, 2020

Question:

Even though people keep on asking if I am homosexual, I don’t conform because I know it’s wrong. What do you think is the reason for people calling other people homosexual without actual evidence?

I also have a friend who’s a girl, and she claims to be a Christian and bisexual. Can that be?

Answer:

Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead” (I Peter 4:1-5).

In general, people have a hard time dealing with other people who are different from them. You see this a lot among teenagers, though it often continues into adulthood. People will find some difference to tease and taunt another person. Even when there is no difference, there are people who will find something that they can blow up into a huge issue.

True Christians are different from the rest of the world. We have a different standard of morality. A worldly guy looks at pornography, he makes dirty jokes about sex, and if given a chance will jump into bed with a girl. From his worldly viewpoint, that is what guys do, so he falsely assumes that guys who don’t do that must not be attracted to girls and are homosexuals. It is a false conclusion that resulted from assuming that his own lifestyle is normal.

As a Christian, you can’t let a person without a moral standard set your moral standard. He won’t like you for calling his way of life wrong and you don’t like is views of your life.

I’m not certain your friend understands what she is saying. Some people claim to be bisexual to mean that they find both men and women attractive. However, the term means that they are having sex with both men and women. In other words, they are committing fornication (having sex outside of marriage). “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9-10). A former bisexual can be a Christian (I Corinthians 6:11), but someone actively involved in fornication and who believes fornication is acceptable is not a true Christian.
