Question:
I have a question. From 14.5 to 15.0, I remained the same height. Then, a couple of days after turning 15, I grew 1 cm in one or two nights. I’ve been growing 2 inches per year since I turned 11, and every time, I would grow for about 4 months or so and be above average for my age during that time, then when my next birthday comes, I’m back to average. Can you tell me what this is?
I’m currently 5’7.3 at 15.0. My shoe size increased from a 9.5 to a 12 last year. I noticed my appetite has been up for a couple of months now.
I still have a baby face with a mustache, and my voice fluctuates a lot. It goes from deep one day to squeaky the next, which sometimes makes my face not match my voice.
Answer:
Growth is not perfectly continuous. The body doesn’t have enough energy to grow everything at once, so it cycles through different systems. When your bones grow, you shoot up a bit. When your heart or lungs grow, you don’t notice the changes. This is why I recommend measuring every six months or once a year. This averages out the starts and stops.
It sounds like you are in stage 4.
