Question:
Currently, I am 17 years old. I am exactly 167 cm tall. My Tanner Stage Is 4.7 or 4.8 according to your website. I grew very rapidly about four years ago (at a rate of about 8 cm per year) but after that, I have grown about 3 cm per year. I have a decent amount of body hair on my arms, legs, and in my armpits. I also have a few strands of hair growing on my chest. I can grow a beard as well but it looks scraggy. I trim my beard almost every week or so. I have had real gynecomastia for the last three years!
My questions are as follows:
- Am I late in my puberty according to my age?
- What is my estimated adult height? ( My dad is 174 cm and my mom is 153 cm)
- In about how much time will my puberty end?
Answer:
The rule of thumb is that each stage is roughly two years in duration. You are 3/4 of the way through stage 4, so you have about 6 months until your growth in height stops. This doesn’t mean you will completely stop growing in other ways (such as in wider shoulders or more facial or body hair).
The average male starts stage 4 around age 15 but can start as early as 12 or as late as 18. Since you are near the end of stage 4 at age 17, you started very near to the average time.
You may see another centimeter or two added to your current height before you reach your full adult height.
