Question:

Hi 🙂

I’m here to ask a question about how tall I could be when I am an adult.

First and foremost, I would like to show my gratitude for the guidance you have given to countless individuals throughout the years. Your expertise in navigating the complexities of human development is truly remarkable to me.

I am currently 13 years and 6 months old, and in the morning, my height measures 187.5cm. According to the Tanner Stage assessment from your website, I am at stage 3.4. My sitting height is 86cm. To provide you with a better understanding of my growth pattern, here is a summary of my previous measurements:
Here is my growth chart:

2 years = 90.3cm
3 years = 103.1cm
7 years = 135cm
8 years = 140cm
12 years = 172cm
13 years = 183cm
13.5 years = 188cm (current)

My father’s height is 195cm, while my mother’s height is 170cm. I also weigh 55kg.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Your guidance is much appreciated

Answer:

If you use the various calculators on the Predicting Your Adult Height page, you would get the following answers:

  • Mid-Parent Rule: 190 cm (184-205 cm)
  • Alternative Mid-Parent Rule: 190 cm (179-199 cm)
  • Double Infant Height: 181 cm
  • KGH (by age): 201 cm (196-206 cm)
  • KGH (by Tanner Score): 201 cm (196-206 cm)
  • Prediction of Adult Height: 205 cm

The answers vary quite a bit, which is not unusual with these methods, especially when the person is in the middle of a growth spurt. You’ve already exceeded the Double Infant Height, so we can ignore that result. I usually use the Mid-Parent Rule as a minimum guess, but even here you are almost there already. Therefore, it looks like you be near 201 cm by the time you get finished growing.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you.
