Are there foods that can help fertility?

Last updated on August 20, 2020

I just want to know if there are foods that can help a gent’s sperm to be at the level to have children.

Also, there was a discussion among certain people of different ages, but I wasn’t able to understand right from wrong. Does masturbation or making love (without marriage) affect the quality of a gent’s sperm?

It should be clear that a person’s diet does affect the health of a person’s body. If you eat in an unhealthy manner, your body is going to suffer and that would include a man’s production of healthy sperm. However, there are a wide range of foods available to people which they can eat and remain healthy. No one certain type of food or class of food is necessary for the healthy production of sperm.

The male body does not know the reason for ejaculation; therefore, masturbation and fornication will not directly affect the quality of a man’s sperm. However, people who commit fornication expose themselves to numerous diseases. “Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, and his reproach will not be wiped away” (Proverbs 6:32-33). A common side-effect of these diseases is damage to the reproductive system.

But this physical damage is nothing compared to the spiritual damage a person does to his own soul. “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (I Corinthians 6:15-20).

It is now well documented that people involved in fornication have a far greater chance of experiencing divorce than those who remain virgins until marriage. The reason is simple, fornicators rarely stay with one partner. When a relationship sours, their first response is to run. They do not have the experience or the fortitude to work through problems and make a marriage last. And this damage is not just in marriages, it affects other relationships, such as a person’s relationship with Christ. I’m trying to help a young man right now with just this sort of problem and many times I wonder if I’m not fighting a loosing battle because the young man, knowing almost nothing else, doesn’t see how badly scarred his soul is currently.
