Do you continue to grow after reaching the middle of stage 4?

Question:

I’m only 18 years old and I’m 5’8.6 ” (174.5 cm) tall. My parents are 5’8 ” (172) and my mother 5’0 ” (152).

I had my puberty at 14. I guess it’s late. I started growing facial hair at 16. At 18 years old, my pubic hair does not cover the inner thighs and there is very little hair in the groin. My voice is more shallow than my father’s and my older brother’s. According to the Tanner Stage Calculator, I am at 4.4 or 4.5.

I would like to know if I can continue to grow and what would be the minimum.

Thanks.

Answer:

Boys in stage 4 tend to grow an additiona1 1 to 3 inches in height during stage 4. Most of this growth will happen near the beginning of stage 4 and then gradually slow down. It is when all growth in height stops that you are officially in stage 5. Since you are already halfway through stage 4, you can expect less than a half-inch (1 cm) of additional growth.
