I don’t want to do anything but look at porn all-day

Question:

I don’t know what’s really going on with me. I can’t concentrate on my studies. Now I usually speak lies to my family. I pretend I am studying. I get caught by porn. I just don’t want to do anything. I spend my whole day doing nothing. Please tell me what should I do.

Answer:

You know what you should do. That is why you are complaining about yourself. You’ve gotten to the age where it is no longer a matter of people making you do things. You have to be responsible for yourself. You have to make yourself do the right things in life. Instead of growing up, you are trying to revert to being a small child who has to be told every step to take.

The right thing to do is force effort out of yourself. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). No one is going to make you and if you chose to remain lazy you won’t like your life. “How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest” — Your poverty will come in like a vagabond and your need like an armed man” (Proverbs 6:9-11).

The right thing to do is stop sinning instead of wanting someone to force you not to sin. Lying will land you in hell (Revelation 21:8). Pornography will destroy your life (I Thessalonians 4:3-5).
