Question:
Hi,
I have been looking for answers and could not actually find one. I do not know what these actually are but I see a similar post among your replies. So, I was just wondering whether you can have a look at it. Do these black spots look normal? Is it even normal to have this many? One of them looks a little bit too light and doesn’t look like a mole at all.
Answer:
The spots look like hyperpigmentation. It is when the pigment that gives your skin its color, get concentrated in a small patch. Some men are prone to this. It is like a birthmark, only these can appear in your teenage years. Such marks are not uncommon. They are nothing to worry about unless you notice them changing in size or color. If you notice that, you need to see a dermatologist. Keep a picture of the spots and then compare them to the picture every year or so to see if there are changes.
Question:
Thanks so much! So they are hyperpigmentation rather than a mole? Also, if they are not changing this means it should be safe, right?
Answer:
A mole would be a lifted area that you could feel. What you showed looks flat and probably feels like the rest of your skin, just colored differently.
Yes, if it doesn’t change, then it is safe.
