I want to grow, but I don’t see it yet

Question:

I am growing (as far as I know) but I haven’t increased in height yet. And now I am feeling embarrassed because everyone else in my school with the same age as me (12, turning 13) are taller than me (but not all of them). What is wrong? I really want to grow tall. Most of my classmates are always asking me why I’m so short.

Answer:

Have someone help you measure yourself with your shoes off. Do it once every three months for a while, then you’ll be able to see that you are progressing. But don’t worry. The average boy doesn’t hit his growth spurt until he is 13 or 14. Boys who are growing tall sooner usually end up shorter as adults. That is because as children you grow 1 to 2 inches every year. When you start early, you start from a shorter height and, hence, don’t reach as great of a final height.

Don’t worry about the teasing. You’ll grow as God designed you.
