I have been having some strange feelings about dogs. Whenever I see dogs pee on trees or sniff each other I get an erection. I feel dirty when this happens, but I also enjoy thinking about it and sometimes touch myself while thinking about it. One time when I was playing with my dog I touched his private parts on purpose and it felt good. I feel like I am attracted to him but I know that’s not right.
Every week I go to church I feel ashamed, and that I’m going to hell. I pray to God to make it stop but it keeps happening. What should I do?
Answer:
You are at the age when just about anything will trigger an erection and having an erection feels good. What started this is that animals’ genitals are not kept private. They are out in the open and seeing them makes you think about your genitals, which then triggers erections.
The problem is that you are latching onto the ideas and feelings. You aren’t using your head, you are letting your feelings control you, and Satan is going to use that to lead you deeper into sin.
While you are praying to God to have this stop, you are overlooking one simple fact: You can stop at any time. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13).
You can’t stop your penis from going erect. That is just a fact of life for males. But it getting big doesn’t mean you have to act on it. When something inappropriate triggers your body, look away. You might not be able to control your penis, but you can control your eyes.
You can also control your hands. Your dog is used to obeying you. It can’t resist if you treat it inappropriately. I know you are curious about what genitals feeling like and that your dog will let you touch his, where another person would not, but that is wrong because you are taking advantage of your position and it is to do things that are not right.
Satan is using sexual feelings to tempt you. Recognize it for what it is. Just because you are tempted, it doesn’t mean you have to give in to the temptation.
