Question:
Should the growth rate be consistent? i.e. Should there be times when I’m hardly growing and times when I’m growing quickly? And would these slow times be built up to or would I just suddenly stop growing and then start again? I haven’t grown much these last three months, but the two months before, I grew around a quarter of an inch.
Answer:
Growth is not constant or steady. There are periods of rapid growth of some part of the body followed by apparent pauses, usually due to some less easily seen part grows or matures. This is why measurements in various growth studies measure once every six months or once a year. The long periods between measurements smooth out the starts and stops.
