The doctor says I have seminal vesiculitis

Last updated on May 3, 2023

Hi sir,

It’s been over a year that I have been having a problem of pain in the anal region. I am not able to sit for more than ten minutes at one place. It burns and hurts a lot, especially after I masturbate — I cannot sit for an entire day. I have seen rectal surgeons, but they say there is nothing they can do because there are no piles or fissures. Even sonography and an MRI scan came back nil.

Recently I was having trouble while urinating. There was a slight burning at the tip of the penis after urination. My doctor advised me to get a sonography of the lower abdomen. It showed seminal vesiculitis in the report. Is this the cause of my anal pain?

I have a habit of watching porn and masturbating 3-4 times a week. I watch it for nearly 2-3 hours for masturbation. Is it the reason for my condition? If yes, then please advise me on how should I avoid masturbating, sir.

I am really very frustrated since last year. Please help me, sir.

Seminal vesiculitis means you have an infection in your seminal vesicles — the glands that produce your semen. It is an extremely rare condition because there are chemicals produced by the seminal vesicles that are supposed to prevent infections.

Seminal vesiculitis can cause many secondary symptoms, including:

  • Pain in the pelvic area, groin, flank, anus, rectum, or abdomen.
  • Ejaculating can be painful or there is a decrease in the amount of semen being ejaculated or the semen is not of normal consistency.
  • Blood in your semen or urine
  • Few sperm in your semen
  • Constipation, diarrhea, or the inability to empty yourself when having a bowel movement.
  • Infections in other sex glands

Your doctor should be treating the infection, though you should understand that it is likely to come back. []

Masturbating did not cause your problem, but because you have an infection in your seminal vesicles, each time you ejaculate, it irritates the glands and causes increased pain.

It is not a sin to masturbate, but it is sinful to watch pornography. See: Is masturbation considered a sin? You do not need pornography in order to masturbate. Watching pornography keeps your body sexually aroused and increases your rate of semen production. Given your infection, this is counterproductive since ejaculating this extra semen causes you increased pain. Therefore, no more pornography. If you feel you need to ejaculate, then go ahead and masturbate but without pornography. It won’t feel as good because you won’t be distracted, but that is better than sinning. You will find that you won’t need to ejaculate as often in a short while.

Thank you, sir,

I will keep this in mind and will try my best to avoid watching pornography henceforth. Can you please suggest me some ways to stop the habit of watching pornography?

Does extreme sitting cause these vesicles to get infected? I was preparing for an exam when I got this problem, and I did sit for 9 to 10 hours each day for nearly five months.

Also sometimes I masturbate in a sitting posture as well. Are these the reasons for seminal vesiculitis?

Seminal vesiculitis is an infection. It is caused by a disease that you contracted. It is not caused by physical action or inaction. This is why you need to see a doctor and get medication to eradicate the infection.

The way to stop watching pornography is to disconnect your need to ejaculate from watching pornography to accomplish that need. It seems backward, but if you purposely masturbate whenever you feel the need to ejaculate, then you will have a far easier time rejecting the temptation to look at pornography. Without the distraction of pornography, it will seem more difficult to masturbate and it won’t feel as intense, but it is far better than sinning.
