Question:
Hi sir,
Over the last six months, my body has undergone significant changes. From January to March, I gained 10 kg. During that time, I’ve felt constantly hungry and ate a lot (I jumped from 63-73 kg). From April to May, my appetite died down, and I didn’t gain any weight. From June to July, I maintained my weight, but my body became leaner.
Furthermore, my sleep habits have also changed since the start of June. I constantly crave more sleep, napping every day, and sleeping in. The only thing that has changed is that I have put on a bit more muscle. The rest of the gain is fat, which I believe is because I switched from basketball to weight training a year ago.
I’m a 16-year-old male.
Based on these traits, can you tell me what Tanner Stage I am in? I have used the calculator, but I’m not entirely sure whether the conclusion is accurate because my Tanner Stage has been 3.5 for over a year. Could you please tell me which traits matter the most so I can check them more closely and determine my Tanner Stage more accurately?
Answer:
The calculator places greater emphasis on things that can be objectively measured and less emphasis on subjective matters.
Currently, the most emphasis is placed on your pubic hair, penis, and testicle size. Secondary importance is placed on your body proportions, foot growth, and teeth. The rest of the questions are factored, but they are more used for fine-tuning the resulting answer. If a question is skipped, it is not factored into the final answer.
Remember that I can only go on what you tell me. I can’t see you, so I can’t fill in the missing pieces of information. What you mentioned matches someone in stage 3 who had a growth spurt.
