Why do I have hair on my thighs but not a strip of hair below my belly button?

Question:

Hi,

I’m 16 and my Tanner Stage is 4.1-4.2. While reading other people’s questions, you said that spreading pubic hair on the thighs is the 5th Tanner Stage. You said that in stage 4, a strip of hair forms between the navel and pubic hair. Now I have hair up to my thighs, but there is still no hair strip between the belly button and the groin. I only have very, very few belly button hairs right now. What is the reason for this? Why is it the other way around for me?

Answer:

Hair appearing on the inside of your thighs is one sign of being in stage 5. I assume you have hair on your thighs but not in the area between your legs.

The hair on your lower stomach forms during stage 4. Since you are at the start of stage 4, those hairs haven’t formed yet.

Question:

No, seriously, I have hair between my legs. But it hasn’t formed between my belly button and my groin yet. Maybe, in our family, thigh hair grows earlier. So I’m at the beginning of stage 4 now, right?

Answer:

I have no way to verify your answers to the calculator. I assume that it is accurate. Yes, it is possible for the order between sets of changes to be different for different people. It is also possible that your genes don’t call for lower stomach hair.
