Why does liquid come from my penis whenever I get erect?

Question:

Some liquid comes from my penis whenever my penis gets erect, even if it is for a short time. It comes even if I see any hot pictures or talk some dirty talk (adult jokes) with my friends. Sometimes it comes when I stare at a girl. Sometimes it creates a nerve pain in my left nose and head of that section. Is it a disease? What will I do now?

Answer:

The liquid you are seeing is called pre-ejaculate fluid. Sometimes it is called pre-cum in slang. It is one of the three liquids that come from your penis (the other two are urine and semen). Pre-ejaculate fluid is produced by two small glands that are below your bladder that are called the Cowper’s glands. The fluid serves several purposes:

  • It neutralizes any urine left in your penis. Urine is acidic and can kill sperm.
  • It lubricates the tube in the penis so that when you ejaculate the semen comes out in a mass instead of dribbling out.
  • It pushes out the leftover urine, cleaning out the tube in your penis.
  • It pushes out the last of any semen left after you ejaculate.

Whenever you get sexually aroused, the Cowper’s glands start producing pre-ejaculate fluid. They don’t know if this is really a sexual situation or not, they just respond to the fact that the body is getting aroused. Therefore, erections are a clear indication that you are sexually aroused. But you also get aroused looking at inappropriate pictures or talking about inappropriate things. Your mind begins to dwell on sex and your body automatically responds, even if you don’t get a full erection.

Some guys produce only a little pre-ejaculate fluid. Other guys produce so much that it leaves a wet spot on their pants.

I’m not certain why you sometimes have pain in your sinus when you get aroused. It might be due to the fact that when you get aroused, your blood pressure also rises.

While that explains what is happening, you need to understand that staring at girls and thinking about sex is not right. “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). It is also wrong to look at “hot pictures” that causes you to want to have sex. “For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God” (I Thessalonians 4:3-5). It is also wrong to engage in dirty talk about sex. “But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Ephesians 5:3-5).
