About half the children under 10 and about 5% of adults talk in their sleep. It might not be a nightly event. Often it is just a few words, though some people have longer monologues. The cause is not really known, though we do know that some medications, fevers, and stress can make them occur more often. But unless it is an induced talking for one of these reasons, there isn’t a known way to stop sleep talking.
