Question:
I’m a 16.5-year-old male who is around 5’8″ (172-173 cm), father who is 5’7.5-5’8″ (171-173 cm), and mother who is around 5’2-5’2.5″ (158-159 cm). My Tanner stage was calculated to be a 4.2 with a minimum of 3.4 and a maximum of 4.9. I was wondering, really, how much more I can grow in height.
If you have responded, thank you!
Answer:
Boys generally grow 1 to 3 inches during stage 4. The majority of this growth occurs in the early part of stage 4 and tapers off until it stops at the start of stage 5.
Question:
Hello,
I’m curious about another question. It would be really helpful if you could estimate what Tanner stage I was in at different ages during puberty,
- 12 years old, I was 5’0-5’1 (154-155 cm).
- At 13 years old, I was 5’4 (162-163 cm).
- At 14 years old, I was 5’5 (166-167 cm)
- At 15 years old, I was 5’7 (170.5 cm), but then I stopped growing for about 6-8 months, maybe due to sickness.
- At 16 years old, I was 5’7.5? (171-171.5 cm).
Now I am 16.5 years old and around 5’8 (172-173 cm). My parents are 5’7.5-5’8 (171-173 cm) and 5’2-5’2.5 (158-159). Could I reach at least 5’9″ (174-175)?
Thank you!
Answer:
You were in stage 3 between 12 and 14. You were in stage 4 between the ages of 14 and your current age. Thus, I would suspect (without seeing you) that you are in late stage 4. I doubt you will reach 5’9″.
