I have orgasms when I masturbate but semen doesn’t come out

Question:

I have some questions about whether what I am doing is normal. I started masturbating for less than a year ago. I would have an orgasm, but I had no idea what it was, so I would just have an orgasm and then stop before I ejaculated. Then 5-10 minutes later I would have to take a serious pee, so I went but I would just be sitting there struggling to get the fluid out. It is watery, light-yellowish, and it smells like almond milk.

My question is is there something wrong with my semen? Is this normal? I know it’s semen because I’ve had a thick, clear substance come out before I feel that semen is coming, pre-cum, and the only liquid that should come is semen. I am only 12 and still going through puberty. I have hair growing in all different places, etc.

Is it normal that I have to strain to get semen out? Should I be worried about this because my body is still growing?

Answer:

Typically semen is ejaculated when you have an orgasm. You are having orgasms without ejaculations, even though semen is being loaded into your ejaculatory duct. The semen staying in the duct makes you feel like you need to urinate. You still have an erection, so the path to the ejaculatory duct is still open, but the path to your bladder is closed. Thus, though you strain, you can’t pee. After semen sits for a few minutes, it thins out, so it is able to dribble out of the ejaculatory duct and down into your penis. Eventually, your erection fades and you are able to pee. Thus, I suspect that all your straining isn’t really doing anything.

The phenomenon is called “dry orgasm.” The most likely cause is that you are not producing much semen yet, so while the muscles squeeze down on the ejaculatory duct when you orgasm, there isn’t enough there for it to shot out. This will change as you get older, but for right now, I suspect that you are masturbating when there is no need. Thus, your body never gets a chance to build up a supply of semen.

I would like you to try an experiment: Try to go a week without masturbating. If you can’t go that long because the desire to ejaculate gets extremely distracting, then you know you’ve built up an adequate supply of semen to ejaculate. If the experiment works, then you know you need to wait until there is a need to ejaculate instead of masturbating solely for the enjoyment of orgasms.

As you get older your body will produce semen faster, then when you get into your twenties it will start slowing down again to a steady rate. So don’t force things, just take care of matters when the need arises.

Question:

I understand. I tried going a week without masturbating and I could. It really just depended on anything I saw. For example, if I saw a very sexy picture then it would make me want to masturbate for the sake of it feeling good.

I have recently noticed that sometimes when I’m just sitting around with no sexual thoughts, a little bit of sperm will ejaculate. This has become normal to me, and I would like to know why it is happening.

Answer:

Pre-Ejaculate or precum

The dripping is not sperm but pre-ejaculate fluid. It comes whenever you are sexually aroused. The fluid could contain a few sperm, but it is not like semen. The dripping is very normal and just a part of being a male.

Just to be fully clear, the experiment was to get you to break your cycle of masturbating too much. Now that you see what is happening, it is fine if you masturbate, but limit yourself to when you feel the need to ejaculate. A side benefit of waiting is that when you do masturbate, the feeling will be more intense.
