Is it normal to not wake up with morning erections?

Question:

Is it normal not to wake up with morning erections, at least not at first?

Answer:

Erections come when you are in the Rapid Eye Movement phase of sleep (the same phase in which you dream). Typically, you just come out of a dream as you wake up, and so you are sporting an erection. If you wake up slowly, your erection may fade before you get fully awake. Or if an alarm clock wakes you up, you might not have been in the dream phase. Thus, there are several reasons you might not have a morning erection every morning. It is normal.
