Question:
My past sin has come back to haunt me! When I was 14 years old, I got a Twitter account. I discovered pornography on it, and I liked immodest pictures of women. I retweeted bad photos and inappropriate links. It has come back to haunt me because someone in my grade found my old Twitter and is telling people to go look at it. The worst part of this is I’m a pastor’s kid. I can’t get back into my account because I have forgotten my password. What do I do? I feel so ashamed and embarrassed!
Answer:
First, try to recover your account by following Twitter’s directions.
Second, even if you do manage to remove your account, you won’t be able to erase the memories of people who saw it. Your best defense is to face the problem head-on. Admit that when you were younger you had gotten addicted to pornography. You’ve gotten out it, and you regret what you did in the past because it was wrong. If someone asks why you don’t get rid of it, tell them that when you quit, you abandoned the account and now you can’t recall the password.
You’ll still get teased, but some will sympathize with you and others will learn to think about what skeletons in their own closets might come back to haunt them. And if nothing else, this will be a reminder to remain humble and realize that even preachers’ children are not perfect.
