Question:
Hey minister
I have an issue with facial hair growth.
I am 15 years old and in the 10th grade. I have little body hair. I have underarm hair that is very light and curly but is not very dense. My pubic hair is very thick and some of it is forming on my stomach, but it does not have a line of hair.
My facial hair is coming in more slowly compared to the others, and I usually get teased for it. I know I should not be rushing growth, but I am just tired of being teased for it all. I have upper lip hair that is not that noticeable until you look closely.
My father is a hairy guy, and he said he started growing facial hair kind of late but this is because he was a late bloomer. But I think I started puberty at the age of 11-12.
Can you tell me what is the issue and why is this happening?
Answer:
Pubic hair typically starts in late stage 2. Arm, underarm, and leg hair usually start in stage 3. It is common to start getting a faint mustache during stage 3. Stomach hair usually starts in early stage 4. Sideburns and chin hairs typically start in mid to late stage 4. Chest hair starts to show up in late stage 4 or early stage 5. Full facial hair usually doesn’t arrive until one or two years after reaching stage 5.
Since you have stomach hair, it sounds like you are in early stage 4. But this is only a wild guess based on one factor. You just have to be patient and wait until you reach the point where your facial hair develops.
Question:
So am I a year later than my classmates since they have chin hair and sideburns already or did they start puberty a bit earlier because most of them are 15 to 16?
Answer:
Each person is different. You probably take more notice of the ones who are a bit ahead of you.
